Legal
Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Captiver platform and services. By creating an account or using Captiver, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.
1 What Captiver Is
Captiver is a personal finance and investment research platform. It helps you track your net worth, research institutional investor portfolios, and access AI-powered financial insights.
Captiver is not a financial advisor. Nothing on the platform — including the AI CFO — constitutes regulated financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Information is provided for informational and educational purposes only. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
2 Your Account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Captiver.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You're responsible for all activity under your account.
- One account per person. Don't share accounts.
- Notify us immediately at hello@captiver.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
3 Your Data
What you enter is yours. All financial data you input manually or upload via CSV is yours. We don't claim ownership of it.
How we use it:
- To power your dashboard, net worth calculations, and AI CFO insights.
- To improve the platform (in aggregate, anonymized form only).
What we don't do:
- We don't sell your personal or financial data.
- We don't use your data to market third-party financial products to you.
- We don't share your data with advertisers.
We store your data securely using industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
4 The AI CFO
The AI CFO analyzes the data you provide and generates insights, projections, and scenario models. It is an analytical tool — not a licensed financial advisor, portfolio manager, or registered investment adviser under Canadian or any other jurisdiction's securities law.
- It cannot and will not execute trades or move money.
- Its outputs may contain errors. Always verify important numbers independently.
- Do not rely solely on AI CFO outputs for significant financial decisions.
5 Elite Investor Research
The 13F filing data displayed on Captiver is sourced from public SEC filings. It is published with a legally mandated lag of up to 45 days after quarter-end.
- This data reflects past holdings, not real-time positions.
- Captiver makes no representation that any investor's current portfolio matches their most recent 13F filing.
- Nothing in the Elite Investor Tracker is a recommendation to buy, hold, or sell any security.
6 Subscriptions & Billing
Captiver offers free and paid subscription tiers. Paid plans are billed annually or monthly via our payment processor.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — we don't offer partial-period refunds, except where required by law.
- We reserve the right to change pricing. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any price change affects your renewal.
- Residents of provinces with consumer protection refund rights (e.g. Quebec) retain any rights provided under applicable law.
7 Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Captiver for anything illegal under Canadian federal or provincial law.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy any part of the platform.
- Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise platform security.
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person.
- Use Captiver to provide financial services to third parties without appropriate licensing.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
8 Intellectual Property
All platform design, code, trademarks, and original content are the property of Captiver. You're granted a limited, non-transferable licence to use the platform for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, resell, or redistribute any part of Captiver without written permission.
Content you upload (your financial data, CSV files) remains yours.
9 Third-Party Services
Captiver may integrate with or link to third-party services (e.g. payment processors, data providers). We're not responsible for the practices or content of those services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.
10 Disclaimer of Warranties
Captiver is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep the platform accurate and online, but we don't guarantee:
- That data (including 13F filings or market data) is always complete, accurate, or up to date.
- That the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Any particular financial outcome from using the platform.
11 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, Captiver's liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including investment losses resulting from use of the platform.
12 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
13 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app notice at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of Captiver after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
